The Fly Monster, or Buy Guy as I call him, is one of the new Lego Series 14 Minifigures. Officially this is set # 71010, but there are really 16 different minifigures sold separately. This is one of my favorites.

The Fly Monster is another one of my favorites from this new series. With a large molded fly head, complete with antannae, a snout, and super cool red bug eyes, this creature started as a small common house fly, and then was exposed to the special fly potion made by the Scientist, which immediately caused him to morph into a human sized fly. Crazy story, right?
The head has two colors, and two different kinds of plastic. The black is a softer more rubberry material, and the red is a harder, trans color. Together they make a great combo.
Fly Guy’s torso is black with a white hive printed on it that extends onto the waist section a little. One hand is normal, the other is a red colored claw that can also hold Lego accessories.
On his back is a grey trans set of hard plastic wings. They don’t move, but that’s OK. They are still pretty cool.
This is what the insert inside the poly bag from the Series 14 Minifigures looks like. On one side you have detailed color photos of all the different minifigures in the series, numbered with a checkbox next to each so you can keep track of the ones you have, or the ones you need.
On the back of the insert is a code so you can use the same minifigure you got in the on-line Lego Game at playminifigures.com. Also on the back are some instructions for how to assemble the Wacky Witch, the Spider Lady, and the Specter.
One thing that is especially handy is for the Wacky Witch, there are official Lego instructions on how to properly put on the cloth skirts that go between the Torso and the Legs.
I love the back story from the Official Lego Website has to say about the Fly Monster:
“Bzzz. Bzzz? Bzzz!”
Until very recently, the Fly Monster was a regular housefly. Now that he’s been mutated into a half-fly, half-minifigure creature, he’s found himself a little bit confused. Part of the problem is that his mind is still pretty much that of a fly. The other part is that he doesn’t realize just how much larger he is than he used to be.
The Fly Monster is always running into windows, falling off ceilings, and getting stuck to pieces of tape. He’s also very afraid of spiders and flyswatters and flees at the sight of them, buzzing in insectoid terror. There is one good side to his new body, though: it’s a lot easier to get at all of that delicious rotting garbage now that he can lift off the trash-bin lids!
