Lego McLaren Pit Stop 75911

75911 McLaren Mercedes Pit Stop Review

The 75911 McLaren Mercedes Pit Stop Set

I wish my garage was as clean as this Pit Stop

Imagine changing 4 tires in 3 seconds.  Or less.  That’s what F1 drivers do every race.  I don’t know if the Lego Mechanics can change a tire that fast, but if it is possible, it can be done in the McLaren Mercedes Pit Stop Set in the Speed champions series by LEGO.

An F1 Pit stop is really amazing to watch.  If you blink or turn your head you will miss it.  Everything is perfectly organized for speed and efficiency. All the tools and equipment a mechanic might need is instantly available.  LEGO has done a great job re-creating the Mercedes McLaren F1 Pit stop with this set.

Let’s start the review with the name.  Why is it a McLaren AND Mercedes pit stop?  I thought those were two different cars, and only one is included with this set.  It’s because the car is both a Mercedes and a McLaren together!  The body and chasis is designed by McLaren, and the engine and powerplant is done by Mercedes.  Each company has done the best thing they know how and combined them into a single super fast racecar.

This set comes with that race car, as well as a driver and some mechanic minifigures, and of course a pit stop with a ton of details made out of Lego bricks.  For around 30 bucks (when it was new) this is an incredible value, with lots of little pieces that are perfect for your race car collection.

How many pieces are in set 75911 – LEGO Mercedes McLaren Pit stop?

This set has 332 pieces, and as usual I got about 11 extra small pieces like single studs, cheese blocs and spare visors.

How many instruction books are in set 75911 – LEGO Mercedes McLaren Pit stop?

This set  from the Speed Champion series has two full color instruction books.  The built is really detailed and it takes 2 books for all the instructions.   One book is dedicated to the F1 car and some of the accessories, and the other book describes the build for the pit stop.

How long does it take to build 75911 – LEGO Mercedes McLaren Pit stop?

It took me about 25 minutes to build this set, and I loved every minute of it.

How many minifigures are in 75911 – LEGO Mercedes McLaren Pit stop?

This set comes with three minifigures.  The first is a race car driver, who is in a white racing suit with a blue Lego helmet.  The next minifig is a pit stop worker also in a white outfit with a red Lego baseball cap (with the new style headphones), and the lasst minifig is in a matching white suit with a white baseball cap.  None of the heads have two faces 😦

Does 75911 – LEGO Mercedes McLaren Pit stop come with any stickers?

This set comes with a lot of stickers to decorate the car and the pitstop, but all my regular readers know that I never put on the stickers.  Sometimes the sets look funny without stickers, but I don’t like them on my Lego Bricks.

What is the best piece(s) in 75911 – LEGO Mercedes McLaren Pit stop?

I love all the little wrenches and tools that come with this set.  By now I must have several dozen complete sets of all the Lego tools, but to me, I can never have enough.  I also like the black scaffolding pieces that are part of the pit-stop itself.

Should I buy 75911 – LEGO Mercedes McLaren Pit stop?

This set is very play-able.  You get a race car, 3 minifigures, and a complete pit stop.  There are so many ways to play with this set, and it comes with just enough pieces that you can try to re-build the pit stop in a different way if you want.  Plus if you decide to tear something apart, you still have other things to play with.  For instance, lets say you take apart the F1 car, you still have everything else to use for a different race car.

As a result I cannot recommend this set enough.  It has a ton of cool pieces, and isn’t that expensive.  It’s a great value and you should absolutely get one

What theme or group is the 75911 – LEGO Mercedes McLaren Pit stop?

The Race car is one of the 2015 Speed Champion Series.

Does the 75911 – LEGO Mercedes McLaren Pit stop come with a parts separator?

Yes, this set does come with a parts separator, and it may be the lowest price set that does.

What was your favorite component or part to build in 75911 – LEGO Mercedes McLaren Pit stop?

So, like I said before this set is a bunch of fun to play with, and it is equally fun to build.  Especially the car.  There are 2 nose cones for it, a low speed version with more drag (and downforce), and a high speed version for those fast tracks around the world.

The car is pretty easy to build, it follows the standard 6 stud wide build that most Lego cars use, but in this case the wheels are open.  There are no fenders or blocks covering them up.  There is just enough room for the lego Man inside the cockpit, and there is no roof, as is standard in all F1 type cars.  Although the rear wing isn’t adjustable it is still very accurate, and unique to build.

Would you buy 75911 – LEGO Mercedes McLaren Pit stop?

I really like this set, and I bought 2 extras so I can rebuild it a few different ways for other race cars in the series.

How experienced a Lego builder do you need to be to build 75911 – LEGO Mercedes McLaren Pit stop?

The age range for this set is 7-14, which is just about right – younger builders will love to play with the car once it is built, and older Lego experts will really get into the way the car is put together.  There are a lot of little pieces, so it probably isn’t ideal for smaller kids.

I’ve done all the hard work for you, and found the best place to get the LEGO McLaren Mercedes Pit Stop set number 75911
