I knew as soon as I saw the Spooky Girl Minifig, that she was going to be one of my favorites. She is one of sixteen new minifigures that are part of the Lego Series 12 Minifig collection.
Everybody has a favorite, in the new Series 12 Lego Minifigure collection. I knew what mine was right away, and was hoping I would get it quickly. You see, you don’t know what you are going to get when you buy one of the little yellow plastic bags. It is impossible to tell exactly which character is inside. There are no markings, no bump codes, nothing that would give away the contents.
It’s not until you cut open the bag that the contents are revealed to you. In the case of the Spooky Girl, you get a piece of paper with pictures of all 16 minifigures that are part of the collection, you get a special black 4×3 base plate for displaying, and the Spooky Girl, all disassembled.
I found a display of these minifigs at Target for $2.99, but usually I just order single packs, or entire sets from Amazon. LEGO Minifigures Series 12 – Set # 71007
One of the really cool things about spooky girl is that her skin is white. Her hands are white, and her face is white. At first I thought it was the special glow-in-the-dark bricks that are part of some sets, but it is not.
She is dressed in a black jacket with a spider painted on the pocket, with a white shirt underneath. Her leggings are black and white stripped, and she has a grey cloth skirt that has to be carefully wrapped around her leg studs before the torso is put on. It is very similar to the Battle Goddess which is also part of this series.
Her hair is jet black, and long. I have never seen another style like it in any Lego set or collection . It also feels a little more rubbery, and less plastic-y.
The very best part of the Spooky Girl minifigure is her black teddy bear. She can hold it by the arms, or it can be placed on a single round stud. Again, this is a custom piece, one that I have never seen before, and is one of a kind.
She is a little bit Goth, and a little bit Wednesday Addams, and a bit of NIghtmare before Christmas, too.
This is what the Lego.com site has to say about Spooky Girl:
“Do you want to come play with me?”
The Spooky Girl likes everything that’s creepy, crawly, icky and eerie. She loves having bad dreams and watching scary black-and-white movies. She loves taking long walks through old graveyards, hearing the wind howl at night, and seeing dry leaves fall off of trees. She loves rats and bats and snakes and spiders, and they love her, too.
Because of all that, the Spooky Girl tends to come off as just a little bit…different. People don’t always understand her point of view, or her sense of style, or her habit of suddenly appearing behind them in mirrors when they don’t know she’s in the room. But she can’t help being spooky; it’s just the way she is!
